The Theory of Constraints Atlas is a pattern-language reference to the named tools, concepts, antipatterns, and canonical cases that make up the Theory of Constraints. Every constraint-focused method Goldratt and his collaborators released, every refinement his named successors have published, and every recurring failure mode the field has learned to recognize lives here as its own entry — context, problem, solution, consequences, sources, and links to the related entries that show how the body of knowledge actually fits together.

The book is a navigable companion to the TOCICO certification track and a daily working reference for anyone running TOC against a real constraint. Each entry follows a consistent anatomy: a precise definition, when to use the tool, how it plays out in practice, what tends to go wrong, the canonical sources, and typed links to neighboring patterns, concepts, antipatterns, and cases.

Introduction — Orient the reader to the book’s scope, the TOC body of knowledge, how to read The Theory of Constraints Atlas, the pattern map, and what’s new. Includes What’s New, Article Map, and more. View all 4 entries →

Foundations — Name the core concepts every TOC practitioner needs: the goal, constraint, T/I/OE, the Five Focusing Steps, POOGI, subordination, constraint-type identification, and inherent simplicity, with the inline antipatterns that opposing them produces. Includes Constraint, Throughput, Five Focusing Steps, Subordination, Constraint Type Identification, Local Optimization, Antipatterns Index, and more. View all 17 entries →

Performance Measures — Cover throughput accounting and the wider measurement family that distinguishes TOC decisions from cost-world decisions, with the inline antipatterns that the measurement system produces. Includes Throughput Accounting, Cost-World vs. Throughput-World Thinking, Product Mix Decision Under Constraints, Continuous Improvement Auditing, Cost-World Thinking, Efficiency Trap, and more. Production and Operations — Cover Drum-Buffer-Rope, Simplified DBR, buffer management, and the VATI plant-type classification that determines which scheduling variant fits which environment. Includes Drum-Buffer-Rope (DBR), Simplified Drum-Buffer-Rope (S-DBR), Buffer Management, VATI Plant-Type Analysis, Capacity-Constrained Resource, Constraint Buffer, Shipping Buffer, and more.
